San Diego Councilmember for District 2, Kevin Faulconer (R) speaks with members of the Point Loma Association about the recent removal of newspaper racks near the Point Loma Post Office in San Diego city, Friday November 16 2007. The owners of the stands chose to remove the racks rather than comply with a new ordinance passed by San Diego City Council. Some of the racks found around the city contain magazines and papers that many residents find offensive and lewd. Others are in disrepair and are not properly maintained by their owners. The ordinance will apply city-wide and Faulconer credited the Point Loma Association with "getting the ball rolling" and said that the rest of San Diego has them to thank for the new laws.
