Cops and kids crowd the aisles at the Sports Arena Target store in San Diego for the annual Shop-with-a-Cop event on December 1, 2007. Three hundred disadvantaged kids were paired up with cops for the event. They were treated to breakfast at SeaWorld before driving to the store in a convoy of more than three hundred police vehicles with sirens blaring, lights flashing and Santa waving from a police helicopter hovering above them. Some of the children rose well before dawn in order to be ready for the fleet of buses that collected them from every corner of the county. Each child had a $100 gift card to spend and many of the children choose to buy clothes, for themselves, their siblings or parents instead of toys.
